Structural Steel Detailer
The Structural Steel Detailers role is to effectively produce accurate and complete detail drawings for the production and installation of structural and miscellaneous steel using Tekla Structures. The detailer completes drawings of parts, or entire projects, within the estimated time as set out together with the drafting manager and timeline given by the project.
Reporting to: Drafting Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed drawings of structural designs using computer-aided design (CAD) software
- Create single part, assembly, and erection drawings with all relevant information
- Review drawings to be sent out to internal/external customer
- Ensuring that completed drawings have been reviewed and comply with companies fabrication and erection needs
- Double-check steel member information by referencing back to contract drawings
- Collaborate with the drafting manager to fulfill all drawing requirements
Qualifications
- 5+ years of proven experience modelling, drafting and detailing for steel structures and miscellaneous metals.
- Certification or formal training in steel detailing or related fields.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Prior professional experience using Tekla 3D is considered an asset.
- Advanced ability to read and interpret design drawings.
- Experience in the structural steel industry is an asset.
- Able to work both individually and as part of a team.
- Both excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have strong computer and technical skills.
- Be positive and willing to learn.
