Who We Are Looking For
Boughton Law is currently recruiting for an intermediate Paralegal with experience inreal estate. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the group on all matters relating to real estate transactions. This is a great opportunity for someone who has a passion for real estate and is looking to work alongside a highly dedicated team.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Administer files from start to finish
- Prepare documents with respect to acquisitions and sales of various types of commercial properties, financing and development of land, and transactions involving trust relationships
- Working knowledge of LOTA requirements and completing transparency report filings
- Review and analyze title encumbrances, prepare terms of instruments for covenants and easements
- Conduct and review due diligence searches and completing summaries
- Prepare and diarize summaries of key transaction dates
- Prepare closing agendas
- Prepare all internal documents relating to trust funds and various payouts
- Liaise with all internal and external parties involved with the transactions, including preparation of correspondences
- Prepare and finalize reporting letters and diarize key post-closings dates and tasks
- Prepare billing/invoicing at completion of transactions where necessary
- Other administrative support as required
Qualifications
- Graduate of a Paralegal Program (or senior paralegal experience will be considered)
- Minimum 2-5 years experience as a Paralegal within commercial real estate
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
- Strong understanding of BC Land Title Office requirements and capability with e-filing including coordination of electronic meets
- Working knowledge of various applicable databases i.e. BC Online, LTSA, municipal tax searches etc.
- Excellent organizational skills
- Document production skills and knowledge in preparing Land Title electronic forms
- Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with a wide range of individuals ie. clients, realtors, lawyers and staff
- Has the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Familiar with billing/invoicing processes in a legal environment
