This position will be an integral part of the Seniors team, will work to execute specialty programming and to grow our Senior's community. The Seniors Program Assistant will contribute to the overall effectiveness and success of our services for Seniors, helping them to feel better connected to the community so they can live life better.
Contract Details: - a full-time permanent position, working 35 hours per week, primarily Monday thru Friday - hourly wage is $23.00 – 25.00 per hour- three (3) weeks paid vacation, employee benefits & a professional development allowance is included, plus free parking- lots of opportunity to contribute and be part of our vibrant community - we are located in beautiful North Vancouver surrounded by forests, walking trails and the ocean; Parkgate Society shares a physical space with Parkgate Community Centre, just up the hill from Deep CoveKey Responsibilities:· coordinate the delivery of Seniors' social programs· monitor program effectiveness and adjust programming content as required· ensuring rooms are set-up to serve the programming and participant needs· ensuring proper room take-down and clean-up is done in accordance with current health and safety requirements· build and maintain relationships with Seniors program participants and address any questions, suggestions, concerns, and complaints when they arise· Assist with the advertising and promotion of Seniors programming at Parkgate Centre· Grow evening programming for young Seniors · Assist in the planning and implementation of new programs and events · Connect with vulnerable populations to offer assistance· Perform duties and responsibilities that arise, based on the needs of the programPosition Requirements: · Food Safe certification· Criminal Records check clearance· Valid safety oriented First Aid certificate· Class 5 drivers license, is an asset · strong working knowledge and experience working in a not-for-profit, particularly in a community based and/or social service organization in programming · specific previous experience working in or with seniors' programming and services · strong interpersonal, relationship building and communication skills · demonstrated teamwork, facilitation, public speaking and leadership skills · strong ability to adapt and pivot in a fast-paced environment · demonstrated ability to work well independently and as part of a team· critical to the role is the strong ability to work effectively and build strong working relationships with a broad range of program staff, volunteers, not-for-profit or publicly funded groups and agencies Who are we?Parkgate Community Services Society is a registered, not-for-profit charitable organization providing programs and services to our friends and neighbors at Parkgate Community Centre, Seymour Youth Centre and the new Lynn Creek Community Centre, and various other locations on the North Shore.
