Our client, the Central Okanagan Food Bank (COFB), is a non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to fostering a healthy, hunger-free community by providing nutritious food to those who need it most. Located in the BC Interior, COFB serves over 10,000 individuals each month in Kelowna and West Kelowna, 44% of whom are children under 15, and 19% are seniors on fixed incomes. In addition to supporting individuals and families, they distribute surplus food to 40+ local non-profit organizations throughout the region. COFB relies on the generosity of individuals, families, organizations, and community groups to support their work through donations of food, funds, and time.
The Central Okanagan Food Bank (COFB) is looking for a Distribution and Client Services Coordinator to join their growing team. This key leadership role ensures food support is delivered efficiently, respectfully, and consistently to those who need it most. As demand increases, the Coordinator will play a vital role in overseeing day-to-day distribution, enhancing client-facing systems, and upholding high service standards. Working closely with warehouse, volunteer, and engagement teams, the Coordinator helps lead organized hamper distribution across multiple locations while fostering a dignified, compassionate client experience. - Provide training, tools, and ongoing support to frontline staff and volunteers to ensure success in their roles;
- Monitor and manage client data systems, ensuring accurate and timely record-keeping;
- Coordinate with the Warehouse Coordinator to maintain adequate inventory levels and re-stocking processes;
- Collaborate with the Volunteer & Engagement Coordinator to address daily operational needs and volunteer support;
- Oversee the coordination and smooth operation of off-site hamper distribution at satellite locations;
- Ensure all client registrations are processed efficiently and professionally, maintaining privacy and dignity;
- Supervise on-site hamper distribution to ensure respectful, organized, and client-focused service;
- Liaise with retail partners and suppliers to order food items as needed;
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and assist with implementing more efficient, client-centered systems;
- Assist with crisis management or conflict resolution during distribution periods, ensuring a calm and supportive environment;
- Track and report on distribution metrics and client service outcomes to inform planning and decision-making.
Requirements:
- Strong understanding of issues related to poverty and food security;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with active listening abilities;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills; able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively;
- Sound judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to changing needs and situations;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with Link2Feed or similar client management systems;
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team environment;
- Familiarity with food bank operations, with a willingness to learn and contribute to continuous improvement;
- Proven ability to lead and support change aligned with COFB's mission, values, and operational goals;
- Basic knowledge of food safety practices and standards;
- Physically able to lift and move items as part of a fast-paced distribution environment.
This is a full-time, in-person position based in Kelowna, BC, offering a competitive hourly wage of $24.00–$26.00, depending on experience. The role follows a Monday to Friday schedule, with occasional weekend shifts as needed.
