Independent Consultant Salon Operations & Business Strategy

About the Role

Tress Lounge Canada Inc. is seeking a seasoned Independent Salon Consultant to work as an external strategic advisor across our growing network of salon locations. The ideal candidate will have prior experience owning, managing, or growing successful salons or retail beauty businesses and will serve as a subject matter expert to strengthen store operations, team training, and profitability.

This role is not an internal employee position but a freelance, third-party engagement with flexibility and high autonomy. Your expertise will be applied in audits, business reviews, manager coaching, and operational enhancement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive operational reviews across assigned stores
  • Advise store managers and leadership on service workflows, team culture, and salon profitability
  • Provide executive reporting on gaps, growth opportunities, and retail strategies
  • Mentor store teams on salon management, upselling, client retention, and technical service improvement
  • Deliver monthly virtual presentations or Q&A sessions for store leadership on industry trends and performance habits
  • Support onboarding of new managers/franchisees with operations coaching and culture alignment
  • Educate Tress Lounge HQ on evolving best practices in salon business operations
  • Recommend technology, software, retail strategies, or merchandising upgrades

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in a senior salon management or ownership role
  • Proven ability to grow revenue, build successful teams, and maintain service excellence
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of Canadian retail and employment compliance (particularly in Ontario)
  • Experience training salon professionals and business owners
  • Comfortable operating independently, with strong planning and reporting habits

Compensation

  • Competitive hourly or project rate, based on experience
  • Paid monthly via invoice
  • Travel stipend available for on-site assignments (if required and pre-approved)
  • Performance bonuses may be considered for projects that deliver measurable impact
