Job Summary
As an integral part of the Mineral Processing team, the Mechanical Engineer contributes to the design, analysis, and implementation of mechanical systems for mineral processing facilities. This role supports engineering studies, detailed design, procurement, and construction oversight activities. The position involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative, cost-effective, and safe mechanical engineering solutions across global mining and processing projects.Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering
  • Develop mechanical designs for equipment and systems used in crushing, grinding, conveying, screening, pumping, and material handling processes.
  • Perform engineering calculations including stress analysis, pressure drop, and thermal performance.
  • Create and review technical specifications, data sheets, P&IDs, and general arrangement drawings.
  • Select and size mechanical equipment based on process requirements and project specifications.
Project Execution
  • Coordinate with process, structural, piping, and electrical teams to ensure design integration.
  • Support procurement processes, including equipment requisition, bid evaluations, and vendor data review.
  • Conduct technical reviews and resolve engineering issues during construction and commissioning phases.
  • Assist in developing scopes of work, cost estimates, and schedules for mechanical engineering deliverables.
Technical Leadership & Compliance
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client specifications.
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, and risk assessments.
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff (senior roles only).
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes relevant to mineral processing.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration preferred.
  • Intermediate Role: 4–9 years of mechanical engineering experience, with at least 2 years in the mineral processing or heavy industrial sector.
  • Senior Role: 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience, including significant exposure to mineral processing facilities, EPC/EPCM projects, and client interaction.
  • Proficiency with general mechanical engineering and drafting software (e.g., CAD, FEA, equipment sizing tools).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical equipment typical in mineral processing, including pumps, conveyors, crushers, mills, and agitators.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
  • Willingness to travel to project or site locations as required.
