Position Summary

The Electrical Engineering Manager is responsible for the successful operation of the Electrical Integration Department for automated test systems. The role requires strong technical leadership, personnel management, and cross-functional collaboration with the mechanical and software engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery.

This position reports to the Division Manager (Functional Test General Manager) and directly manages 10-12 engineers and technicians across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the electrical engineering team, providing day-to-day supervision and technical mentorship
  • Drive, review, and approve electrical system designs; evaluate team performance and provide feedback
  • Assign tasks and manage labor resources across projects to balance workload
  • Communicate staffing and project status updates to management
  • Train and mentor engineers; hire and onboard new staff as needed
  • Support or delegate contributions to quoting efforts for new projects
  • Uphold high standards for the quality of integrated test systems
  • Continuously improve development processes, tools, and quality standards
  • Drive adoption of new tools and methods to increase both velocity and quality.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success leading geographically distributed teams with strengths in team building, mentoring, and conflict resolution
  • Ability to develop and manage engineering budgets, schedules, and resource plans
  • Effective personnel and project management, including planning, organization, and documentation
  • Strong communication and organizational skills; able to interface with customers when required
  • Bachelors in electrical engineering discipline, or equivalent experience in a test engineering environment
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a management role
  • Experience with functional test systems
  • Working knowledge of electronic circuit theory and knowledge of test and measurement equipment and techniques
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and computer-aided design (CAD) platforms
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically and adaptively
  • Thrives in a dynamic environment focused on continuous growth and innovation
  • Willing to commit extra effort during peak project periods to meet deadlines
  • Committed to confidentiality and IP protection, especially when working with sensitive or regulated technologies (Controlled Goods)
  • Familiarity with regulatory and quality compliance standards (e.g., ISO 9001, NIST 800-171).

The salary range is $110,000 to $150,000 per year. The hiring manager will determine the final starting salary (within the salary range) based on the successful applicant's qualifications.

Compensation includes base salary and performance-based annual bonuses. Benefit offerings include extended health/dental, term life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, and RRSP match. Paid leave includes paid time off and holiday pay.
