EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
NIAGARA FOLK ARTS FESTIVAL is holding a competition for the position of: The Niagara Folk Arts Festival Logistics and Events Co-ordinator.
Contract position compensation of $3000 for June 20 to August 20, 2025 and three days in late September, 2025. We are searching for an addition to our Festival and Events Team, to be the lead facilitating site needs, equipment, technical support, be a liaison between the Festival and various municipalities, knows how to get things done most creatively and efficiently and at all times, enjoy what they do and allow their passion to be shared with the rest of the Team.
Responsibilities:
  • Is the lead for all logistical needs for all Festival lead programming-all equipment, rentals, tools, site maps, communication, décor, security and safety for facilitating all Festival events.
  • Research vendor participants and confirm their attendance.
  • Working with the Co-ordinator of Volunteers, aid in the volunteers needs and facilitation of
    volunteer abilities in their assigned duties at events.
  • Contribute to and perform Administration duties, under the direction of the Fundraising and Events Manager.
  • Create and maintain vendor, supplier, VIP and Sponsor contact information and ensure their
    attendance at events.
  • Create and facilitate VIP and Sponsor attendance details at events, under the direction of the Fundraising and Events Manager.
  • Be the point of contact when working with various Municipalities, following respective by-laws and building codes.
  • Use best Customer Service delivery skills for attendees, Volunteers, Staff and visiting VIPs
    and invited guests.
  • Maintain budget guidelines set by the Fundraising and Events Manager.
  • Attend and help facilitate events and programming that they have organized directly, as well as those created as a Team.
  • Create a final report reflecting the pros and cons of event planning and execution.
  • Support other Festival Staff in their duties when called upon, when time permits upon mutual agreement. Ie-Volunteer supervision, general deliveries, attending Festival Programming when needed.
Requirements:
  • Completion or some completion of a Special Events post-secondary diploma program.
  • Experience in Festival and Event Logistical Planning and facilitation.
  • Able to anticipate needs, assess and provide solutions to present to the Festival team.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and customer service skills; resourceful, creative, strategic.
  • Supportive team member, friendly, helpful.
  • Demonstrated ability to be highly organized.
  • Comfortable working independently, strong oral, written and public speaking skills.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office-Excel, Word, Power Point.
  • Able and familiar with social media platforms-Facebook, Twitter, Instagram.
  • Demonstrates patience and understanding when engaging with individuals from diverse linguistic and communication backgrounds.
  • Ability to lift 30lbs, carry and store items, periods of long standing and walking.
  • A second language is useful, but not mandatory.
  • A valid Driver's License for Ontario.
  • Access to a personal vehicle.

Please Note:
  • Compensation for this contract position will be $3000 CDN with the bulk of the needs happening in the lead up to the Water Lantern Festival to be held August 2 (Rain date August 3).
  • Approximately 144-150 hours.
  • As with many special events, this position will not be consistent to a 9-5, Monday-/Friday work week. Weekends, and after 5pm hours can be expected, and negotiating what flexibility is needed will be addressed.
  • Much of the work associated with this position will be conducted outside of the Festival
    Office. A table top computer can be made available, but candidates should consider having their own laptop/computer-this is not a mandatory requirement.
  • This position can be compatible to work in tandem with other employers, depending on the flexibility of all parties.
