The Calgary TELUS Convention Centre is seeking a proactive and resourceful Manager, IT & Cybersecurity. Reporting to the Director, IT and Cybersecurity, this position is responsible and accountable for providing guidance, support, and supervision to ensure high-quality customer service and operational efficiency. The Manager, IT and Cybersecurity oversees the design, implementation, and operation of IT systems, including networks, servers, and cloud-based solutions, while adhering to industry best practices. Additionally, this position coordinates IT team activities, supports professional development, and manages vendor relationships to ensure service levels are met. Overall, the Manager plays a crucial role in maintaining IT system efficiency, securing information assets, and advancing the company's objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership and Management:
- Collaborate with the Director to understand the strategic vision and objectives of the organization. Translate these into actionable plans and initiatives within the IT and Cybersecurity domain, ensuring that technological advancements align with business needs.
- Provide leadership to the IT team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and service excellence.
- Liaise with Director, IT and Cybersecurity to develop and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery plans, including testing and documentation.
- Ensure team members have the skills and resources required to deliver high-quality customer service and maintain operational efficiency.
IT Operations:
- Oversee the design, implementation, and operation of IT systems, including networks, servers, cloud-based and on-premises systems, ensuring performance, availability, and security.
- Lead infrastructure projects and initiatives, including upgrades, migrations, and expansions, while adhering to best practices and industry standards.
- Liaise with Sales/Event management staff and clients to accommodate telecommunications needs and promote in-house services.
- Documentation on technical procedures, administrative processes, and configuration management.
- Administration of firewalls, switches, servers, telecommunications devices, and desktops.
- Maintenance of cybersecurity systems such as firewalls and antivirus systems, and mitigation of threat vectors.
- Installation, and implementation of all voice and data communication equipment (i.e. fibre optics, telephone/modem, Ethernet, wireless networks etc.) for client events.
- Coordination with vendors and technicians for product recommendations, contract work and repairs.
- Maintenance of inventory on all telecommunication equipment.
- Management of implementation projects and technology rollouts.
Cybersecurity Management:
- In collaboration with the Director, manage cybersecurity initiatives and practices, ensuring the company's IT infrastructure is protected against cyber threats.
- Implement and enforce security policies, controls, and procedures to safeguard information technology assets.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and mitigate potential risks.
Team Management:
- Provide guidance and support to team members, promoting professional development and growth opportunities.
- Conduct performance evaluations and address any performance issues in a timely manner.
Vendor Management:
- Manage relationships with third-party vendors and service providers, ensuring service levels are met and contracts are adhered to.
- Collaborate with vendors to assess new technologies and solutions, evaluating their compatibility and suitability for the company's IT environment.

Partners with other resource managers/change agents to identify opportunities for significant process enhancements. Recommends changes that impact strategic business direction. Sets expectations for monitoring and feedback systems and reviews performance trends. Evaluates progress and involves peers and team members in analyzing strengths and weaknesses in performance. Improves efficiency by spearheading pilots and planned functional change initiatives.

Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- 5-8 years of experience in IT management, with a focus on cybersecurity and infrastructure.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team of technical professionals.
- Experience with cybersecurity best practices, risk management, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CCNA, etc.) would be an asset.
Experience & Assets
- 8+ years' experience with Information Systems/Network Administration providing hardware, software, network and telecommunication system maintenance and support (i.e. Windows 10/11, Linux, Windows Server, SQL, Office 365, MFA), VMWare/Vsphere.
- Internet connectivity, SAN/NAS, backup software/strategy, Cisco network switch and router configuration.
- Experience with Teams, Zoom, WebEx, and other conferencing platforms.
- Palo Alto Firewall design and configuration (asset).
- Hyper V configuration and management (asset).
- Network security, data protection, and privacy (asset).
- Building management automation (asset).
- Digital signage systems (asset).
- In-building audio systems and lighting systems (asset).
