About the Role:
As an Urgent Response Coordinator at FIREFLY, you will play a vital role in supporting children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families across Northwestern Ontario. Reporting to the Clinical Manager, you will:
- Screen incoming referrals and determine eligibility for Urgent Response Services (URS).
- Lead the development and coordination of individualized URS plans in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
- Provide service navigation and referral support for families not eligible for URS.
- Coordinate and monitor high-quality, culturally responsive, and family-centred care.
- Collaborate with community partners to strengthen local service systems across the Thunder Bay, Kenora, and Rainy River Districts.
- Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to continuous quality improvement.
This full-time position is based in Northwestern Ontario. Some flexibility in work hours, including evenings or weekends, may be required to meet client needs. Some travel required.
What We're Looking For
Education & Experience
- Undergraduate degree in Human Services or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Minimum five (5) years of experience supporting children, youth, and families with complex or multiple special needs.
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary, cross-agency teams and navigating service systems.
- Knowledge of the Ontario Autism Program and experience with children/youth with ASD is considered a strong asset.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong assessment, planning, and coordination skills using strength-based, family-centred approaches.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills.
- Proven ability to lead collaborative team meetings and develop SMART goals across providers.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced service environment.
- Technically proficient with word processing, electronic client record systems, and project management tools.
- Demonstrated cultural competence, emotional intelligence, and professional integrity.
Additional Requirements
- Valid Ontario Drivers License and access to reliable transportation.
- Clear Criminal Record Check.
