Position Overview

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Manager, Corporate Accounting will be a key individual in the financial closing of multiple business and real estate legal entities. This hands-on role will support the month-end close, financial analysis, and reporting of the results. The successful candidate will demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills and the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.

This is an ideal opportunity for a CPA (Candidate) to get great mentorship as they take on a broad mandate. This role will not be siloed, but if you show initiative and capability, the corporate accountant can go beyond the initial mandate of this role. Additionally, this is a great chance for an entrepreneurial person that enjoys being around smart individuals in a growth environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the full cycle accounting duties, including reconciliations, processing payments (A/R, A/P) and posting journal entries
  • Manage CAPEX for multiple Legal Entities
  • Provide support the Director of Finance regarding Quarterly and Year-End reviews
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives
  • Complete HST Returns for multiple Legal Entities
  • Ad hoc projects and reporting/analysis
  • Ensure staff members are achieving desired service levels and taking corrective action, as needed
  • Foster a work environment that values people and encourages participation, creativity, learning and accountability
  • Ensure employees are equipped with the knowledge, training, experience, tools and technology needed to achieve the required business results
  • Hiring, training, coaching, and leading the team

Education/Experience Required:

  • CPA/International equivalent (or candidate).
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, adapt quickly, and manage changing priorities.
  • Initiative, self-motivation and adaptability to take on additional responsibilities.
  • Strong Excel skills (i.e. Pivot Table, V-Lookups, and advanced Formulas).
  • Experience with Sage, and QuickBooks is an asset
