Business Unit: Powerhouse VFX
Position: FX Artist
Location: Vancouver, BC (Remote)
*Pay Range: $45.00 - $80.00 CAD hourly
POSITION SUMMARY:
The FX Artist will work in Houdini to create high quality sims per client brief and internal direction. They will use both technical and creative skillsets to develop and create FX such as fire, explosions, smoke, liquids, particles, cloth, hair, crowds, etc.
MAIN DUTIES:
The FX artist will set up & adjust your own realistic FX sims (fire, explosions, smoke, liquids, particles, cloth, hair, crowds, etc.), and light, shade and provide slapcomps of FX work for both internal and client reviews. They are also responsible for the following:
- Attend dailies sessions with the project team and work proactively to contribute to creative problem solving
- Apply creative and technical feedback as it is provided from the project leads
- Communicate clearly and frequently with the project team
WHAT YOU BRING:
The ideal candidate will be proficient in Houdini, Maya, Nuke and other necessary software, have the ability to create custom setups or pickup previously built setups, and be experienced in lighting and shading your own shots. Additional desired skills include:
- Working knowledge of programming software such as Python, Maya API
- Demonstrated ability working with strict deadlines and under pressure
- Ability to take direction and find creative solutions during the iterative process
- Strong attention to detail
