The designer will be working with a cross-functional team of Optical, Thermal, Electrical and Mechanical Engineers to develop structural and alignment components for a Ground Station that will communicate with satellites with Lasers. The work will involve development of solid models as well as machining and assembly drawings.
Responsibilities:

· Designs new products and makes improvements to existing products using computer aided design (CAD) using CREO software.

· May evaluate products, parts, or processes for cost efficiency and reliability and ensure project completion.

· Works with other members of the engineering staff to ensure that production is completed in a timely manner.

· Requires a college diploma or a bachelor's degree in area of specialty and 4-6 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

· Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.

· Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and has a good understanding of GD&T as well as machining processes.

· Performs a variety of tasks.

· May lead and direct the work of others.

· A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

· Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
