Summary:
Pathway Communications is seeking a contract Data Center Expansion Project Coordinator to lead the end-to-end execution of our upcoming data center expansion project. The successful candidate will bring a blend of project management expertise, engineering acumen, and data center operational knowledge to deliver on-time, scalable, and efficient infrastructure expansion.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee all phases of the data center expansion project, from planning and design through to commissioning and handover.
- Work closely with internal teams (Facilities, IT, Operations) and external vendors (architects, engineers, contractors) to align project scope and timelines.
- Coordinate design and implementation of mechanical (HVAC, RTU, CRAC/CRAH, airflow) and electrical systems (UPS, ATS, PDUs, generators, distribution) with Vendors.
- Negotiation pricing, accountability, and scheduling of vendors
- Ensure power and cooling requirements are assessed, forecasted, and provisioned appropriately.
- Review and manage detailed design drawings and construction documentation (mechanical, electrical, civil).
- Monitor budget, schedule, and project risks; implement mitigation strategies where necessary.
- Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, data center standards (e.g., Uptime Institute, TIA-942), and the company's operational requirements.
- Conduct regular status meetings, track milestones, and produce progress reports for leadership.
- Coordinate commissioning processes, load testing, and operational readiness assessments.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of project management experience, with 3+ years specifically in data center infrastructure or mission-critical environments.
- Strong knowledge of data center HVAC systems (Split units, RTU, Free cooling, chilled water, containment strategies).
- Deep understanding of power systems in data centers (high-voltage feeds, UPS, generator backup, power distribution).
- Familiarity with mechanical and electrical design principles and documentation.
- Proven ability to manage cross-disciplinary teams and work with engineers, architects, and facility technicians.
- PMP or Prince2 certification preferred.
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering or equivalent technical experience.
- Experience with the construction/expansion of Tier II or Tier III facilities is an asset.
