Job Summary:
The Trailer Air Brake Mechanic will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and
maintaining trailer air brake systems and related components. This role requires in-depth
knowledge of trailer mechanics, especially air brake systems, and the ability to work efficiently
in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
 Inspect, diagnose, and repair air brake systems on trailers
 Perform regular maintenance and safety checks on trailers and braking components
 Replace or repair brake drums, shoes, valves, chambers, slack adjusters, and other parts
 Troubleshoot and resolve air system issues including leaks, malfunctions, and
adjustments
 Ensure repairs are completed in compliance with DOT and company safety standards
 Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and parts used
 Collaborate with other mechanics and supervisors to prioritize repair schedules
 Keep work area clean, organized, and safe

Requirements:
 High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training preferred
 Minimum 4–5 years of hands-on experience working with trailer air brake systems
 Strong knowledge of trailer components and braking systems
 Familiarity with DOT regulations and safety standards
 Ability to operate power tools, diagnostic equipment, and lifting equipment safely

 Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
 Ability to work independently and as part of a team
 Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. and work in various weather conditions
Preferred Qualifications:
 Certification in trailer repair or heavy-duty brake systems
 CDL license (not required but an asset)
 Welding or fabrication experience is a plus
