Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Supervisor (Entry to Mid-Level)

Position Summary
TheOHS Supervisorwill play a key role in supporting and enhancing our occupational health and safety programs while also contributing to human resources initiatives. This hybrid role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about workplace safety and employee well-being. You will work closely with the Regional Health & Safety Manager, Site General Manager, and Corporate HR and Safety teams to ensure compliance, promote a strong safety culture, and support HR-related programs.
Key Responsibilities
Occupational Health & Safety
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead or assist in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and follow-up reporting.
- Conduct new hire site safety orientations.
- Deliver safety training programs and refresher courses.
- Maintain accurate records of safety training, inspections, incidents, and compliance documentation.
- Participate in safety committee meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support emergency preparedness planning and drills.
- Travel regularly between Legal and Calgary locations, with occasional weekend or off-shift work.
- Reporting and administration of WCB claims- regular communication with WCB
- Coordination of and facilitation of training classes, monthly safety meetings and OHS Committee meetings.
Human Resources Support
- Collaborate with the regional and corporate HR teams to implement HR programs and initiatives.
- Assist with administration of onboarding documents of new employees by checking for completion and accuracy.
- Support employee engagement and wellness initiatives.
- Help maintain employee records and ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures.
- Act as a point of contact for employee questions related to safety and HR.
- Promote a respectful, inclusive, and positive workplace culture that aligns with Liberty Tire's values.
- Support attendance tracking, employee leaves, and return-to-work programs in collaboration with HR and operations.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field (or currently enrolled in an accredited OHS program).
- Strong knowledge of Alberta Provincial OHS regulations.
- Familiarity with the Alberta Employment Standards Code is preferred
- Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively across departments.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable using EHS and HR software systems.
- First Aid certification or trainer credentials are an asset.
- Previous experience in a safety or HR-related role (including internships or co-ops) is an asset but not required.
- Discretion and professionalism when handling confidential or sensitive matters.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of workplace investigations, modified duties, and return-to-work coordination.
