Summary
St. Margarets School (SMS) is Western Canadas only girl-centered, independent day and boarding school located in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada on the unceded traditional territories of the Esquimalt Nations, Songhees Nations, and WSNE Nations. Founded in 1908, SMS is an international centre for girl-centered learning and leadership development, providing empowering education for girls from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 (boarding grades 712). St. Margarets School is an International Baccalaureate (IB) School offering the Diploma Programme, and we are a candidate school for the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP).

Reporting to the Manager, External Programs, the Out of School Care Provider works work collaboratively with the Out of School Care Supervisor in providing this support, which includes participating in the preparation and/or implementation of activities and ensuring the well-being and safety of all students. Other daily duties may be assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities
Participating in the day-to-day operations of the program and care of the students.
Helping to plan and execute the weekly or daily program of activities based on themes.
Maintaining written records of schedule and activities.
Ordering and purchasing program materials as necessary.
Maintaining area and materials in a well-organized and orderly manner.
Working cooperatively with other staff members and supervisors.
Communicating effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
Recording daily attendance.
Ensuring that students are signed in and picked up in accordance with St. Margarets policy of student safety and supervision.
Adhering to the VIHA BC Child Care Licencing Regulation requirements pertaining to a Group Child Care. (e.g. First Aid, cleanliness, child to adult ratio, attendance records, practice drills, etc.)
Maintaining medical and emergency contact information of participants.
Being knowledgeable in evacuation and emergency procedures in the Out of School Care area.


Required Education & Experience
Applicable post-secondary diploma in the field of Childcare or Education.
Minimum 2 years of demonstrated childcare experience with school-aged children.
Criminal Record Check.
First Aid certification.

Experience with children in elementary school settings.
Demonstrated supervisory experience.
Strong creative and organizational skills.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Ability to use technology including, email, Excel, and Google Suite.
Flexible to work in a busy and dynamic environment.
Ability to assist children of a variety of ages, interests, and abilities.
