Position and Company Summary
The Master Production Scheduler is responsible for developing the master production plan to satisfy customer demand while carrying minimum effective inventory. They will be responsible for providing the plant with a weekly production plan consistent with the plant capacity and sales forecast.
The Scheduler is responsible for determining the desired inventory levels for raw materials and finished goods including safety stock levels. The sales forecasts, new business opportunities, customer expectations and internal supply constraints will be used to develop production plans, per week, for a rolling three-week period.
Duties and Responsibilities Production Planning
- Create and maintain a rolling 3-week production schedule for designated products. Utilizing production capacity, taking into consideration the sales forecast, historical sales, product availability and new business opportunities when creating the production schedule
- Plan and prioritize operations to ensure maximum performance and minimum delay
- Release manufacturing orders to the shop floor; monitor production schedules, expedite the flow of materials and orders through the shop to ensure ship dates are met, including communicating and facilitating issues
- Coordinate contingency plans to achieve delivery promises when important deviations occur or properly adjust due dates in the schedule and inform Customer Service of the changes
- Monitor actual output versus the production plan. Identify gaps and drive solutions, including a metric on production performance to the requested production schedule
- Maintain finished goods inventory at target levels to ensure high service levels
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Review production orders for issues and discrepancies, resolve the issue and correct any documentation or errors
- Continuously improve scheduling processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Additional duties as assigned.
Purchasing
- Optimize inventory management by carefully balancing the appropriate level of supply to allow flexibility, minimize overstock in keeping with our sustainability and financial goals
- Place purchase orders with vendors. Analyze, schedule and expedite material according to ERP requirements. Amends delivery dates as required. Expedite material deliveries where appropriate
- Expedite purchase orders to ensure timely delivery and to ensure all deadlines are met.
- Review long-term forecasts to identify and mitigate possible capacity/material issues and recommend appropriate action
- Maintain critical material information in the ERP system (lead-times, pricing, safety stocks, vendor data)
- Making continuous improvement recommendations that remove waste and add value to our existing processes
- Work closely with the sourcing team on cost savings projects, book volume contracts and negotiate with suppliers.

- Ability to work well under pressure, adapt to changing priorities and requirements
- Sound knowledge of supply chain processes and procedures including manufacturing planning, demand and replenishment processes
- Ability to interact effectively with internal and external support groups
Education and Experience
- APICS certified in production and inventory management (CPIM) preferred
- Minimum 5 years' related experience
- Expertise in data analysis, generating reports and metrics in Excel
Language Skills:
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
