Position Summary
The Department of Huutakiiinaaa is seeking enthusiastic, caring, and reliable The Summer Program Lead will be responsible for leading the 7-16 age group within the summer day program for school-aged children. This role includes developing and delivering daily programming, providing supervision and guidance to group assistants, and maintaining safety standards. The Lead plays a key role in supporting the integration of Yuuuiat culture, language, and land-based learning into all aspects of the groups experience. This is a full-time term assignment from July 2, 2025 to August 29, 2025.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and deliver a daily schedule of engaging, age-appropriate activities for 7-16 age group
- Support cultural programming by incorporating Yuuuiat language, teachings, and land-based learning into daily activities
- Supervise and mentor assigned support staff or youth helpers within your group
- Monitor group dynamics and provide trauma-informed behaviour guidance
- Ensure all safety procedures are followed during indoor, outdoor, and off-site activities
- Assist in tracking group-specific expenses and help keep activities within the program budget
- Communicate with families as needed during pick-up/drop-off and outings
- Assist with snacks, transitions, and transportation supervision
- Maintain accurate attendance, incident, and activity records for your group
- Attend debriefs and contributes to weekly team check-ins
Qualifications
Training, Education and Experience
- Responsible Adult Certification preferred (ECEA, ECE, or Diploma/Bachelor in CYC an asset)
- At least 1 year of experience working with children in a group setting; leadership experience an asset
- Ability to plan and lead engaging, developmentally appropriate activities
- Strong understanding of safety and supervision standards for school-aged children (ages 7-16 preferred)
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn about Yuuuiat values, teachings, and cultural protocols
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Valid First Aid/CPR-C (or willingness to obtain before start date)
- Clear Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector screening
- Class 4 Drivers License considered an asset
