We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Project Controls Consultant to be a key member of our high-performing, diverse, and innovative consulting team.

The Opportunity:

The Senior Project Controls Consultant will contribute to the successful planning, execution, and monitoring of capital projects across multiple sectors. With a focus on cost management, scheduling, and risk oversight, the Consultant will support both internal teams and clients by providing high-quality project controls services that drive delivery and performance.

This is a full-time, non-remote, in-office position based in Toronto, Ontario.

Role Description:

  • Provide leadership in the development and implementation of project controls systems and procedures ensuring alignment with client goals and best practices.

  • Leverage Primavera P6 to develop, update, and monitor detailed project schedules, including preparing estimates and schedules to support project delivery.

  • Develop Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) to ensure accurate cost reporting and alignment with project requirements.

  • Conduct forecasting activities, track project costs and schedules, and flag variances or trends that may impact delivery.

  • Apply earned value management (EVM) techniques to measure project performance and provide regular insights on efficiency and progress.

  • Perform schedule analysis, including critical path assessments and 'what-if' scenario modeling to evaluate alternative approaches.

  • Support risk identification and mitigation efforts by maintaining risk registers and integrating risk into schedule and cost planning.

  • Administer change control processes for both budgets and schedules, ensuring proper documentation and approval of changes.

  • Track procurement milestones and the delivery of key goods and services, escalating delays or disruptions where necessary.

  • Prepare and contribute to regular project controls reports and dashboards, highlighting key metrics and trends for internal and client stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and finance leads to support integrated planning and delivery.

  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and client requirements.

  • Participate in internal knowledge sharing and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in project controls methodologies.

  • Provide expert consulting support to clients in resolving project control issues and implementing process improvements.

Role Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in project controls or project management, ideally within capital projects, infrastructure, or energy sectors.

  • Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6 and MS Project, along with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools.

  • Experience in cost tracking, schedule analysis, forecasting, and risk management.

  • Familiarity with earned value management principles and project performance reporting.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Experience working in a consulting or client-facing role is strongly preferred.

  • Comfortable interpreting project data and communicating findings in a clear, actionable way.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, with the capability to collaborate across diverse project teams.

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Willingness to travel to client sites as needed.

  • Commitment to professional development and ongoing learning in the project controls field.

  • Willingness to work outside of normal business hours as required.

  • This role is based in Toronto, Ontario, candidates must be able to commute or willing to relocate.
