Were looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Repair Services team in a technical support role focused on 3D scanning and mechanical drafting. This position plays an important part in documenting equipment condition and supporting repair planning by working closely with Project Managers to capture, interpret, and communicate technical details. Responsibilities:
- Perform 3D scanning of rotating equipment as it arrives in the shop for repair.
- Generate accurate technical drawings using scan data and manual measurements.
- Translate repair scope details into visual documentation for shop and project use.
- Work with Project Managers to confirm work scope and ensure repair drawings align with project needs.
- Update and revise drawings based on changes or feedback throughout the repair process.
- Organize and maintain scan files and drawings in the shared project folders.
- Assist in identifying critical wear or damage areas that need to be highlighted for repair.
- Support quality assurance by cross-referencing completed repairs against scan and drawing documentation.
- Coordinate with shop personnel to ensure drawings are clear and usable on the floor.
- Participate in project meetings as needed to discuss drawing or technical documentation requirements.
- Maintain scanning equipment and ensure tools are calibrated and ready for use.
- Ensure all technical documentation follows internal formatting and version control standards.
- Support continuous improvement by suggesting ways to streamline the scanning and documentation process.
- Collaborate with team members on documentation best practices and consistency across projects.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a post-secondary program in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field.
- CET designation (or working toward it) is preferred.
- Experience with 3D scanning equipment or CAD-based modeling is an assettraining will be provided.
- Familiarity with technical drawing standards and mechanical components.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to interpret and produce accurate technical documentation.
- Comfortable working in a hands-on, shop-floor environment.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks or projects at once.
- A collaborative mindset with a willingness to take direction and contribute to team goals.
- Self-motivated and eager to learn, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Basic understanding of rotating equipment is an asset.
