Crystal Kids Youth Centre has an opening for a Services Coordinator/ Team Lead. The wage is $23.00 per hour and is based on a 40 hour work week. Start Date: July 7, 2025

Who We Are: Crystal Kids is a Canadian charity located in and serving hundreds of inner-city of Edmonton, Alberta. The significant majority of which are Indigenous youth. Through relational care, trauma informed care, and harm reduction best practice service delivery, we provide critical mentoring, literacy interventions, life skills competencies and wellness support. We also provide nutritional support and food security which for our children, is the most eminent need. We are engaged in wellness support by assisting and mentoring youth navigating life in generational poverty, physical and mental health challenges, the resulting and historical layered trauma of complex and significant prolonged adversity. We mentor and support youth in building capacity through their marginalized lived experience. This below-poverty-line reality includes: hunger, absence of healthy adult modelling/supervision, instability at home and family violence, homelessness in all its manifestations(couch surfing, lack of permanent address/ transience/ living on the street without a housing structure/ living in tent cities / homeless shelter surfing etc, disassociation from school/academics, LGBTQ+ advocacy, justice/legal matters, racism and bullying, sexual health issues, human trafficking, off-reserve cultural identity gaps for indigenous families, lack of supports and resources for newcomer families, the lure of drugs and alcohol as a means of self-medicating, and other methods of survival for our street-entrenched youth.

The ideal candidate qualifies with:

A degree in Child and Youth Care or Social Work. Equivalences considered.

3 Years of supervisory experience in a youth-client setting. (Youth Centre, Group Care Milieu)

Impressive conflict management and crisis intervention skills

Strong assessment and critical thinking skills

Effective communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills

High level of professionalism, confidentiality and diplomacy

Knowledgeable of community resources

High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability

Excellent planning and organization skills to meet deadlines

Ability to work effectively as a member of a team

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides immediate supervision, direction, and guidance to a multi-disciplinary team of youth workers.

Will ensure the team delivers youth-centric / youth driven programs and supports in accordance with our Mission, Vision, and Mandate.

Participates in / assists with staff Orientation, Training and Evaluation.

Assists Management in training, supervision, and evaluation of multi-disciplinary University Field Placement Practicum Students (multiple).

Guides, supports, builds capacity for team in reflective practice and critical thinking.

Lead daily team prebrief and debrief sessions and staff meetings when management is unavailable.

Coordinate our Food Security Supports (Food Bank bulk food pick-ups, Food Bank Haper distribution; Community Food resources; Food supports for children/youth/families; Meals for the street entrenched; and our senior's weekly meal program)

As part of our team of mentors, actively engage in critical mentoring and the charitable work of our organization.

Ensures team is executing our relational care / trauma informed care / and harm reduction best practices with youth clients.

In conjunction with management coordinates, plans, and monitors wellness support and case management therein for youth.

Coordinate and ensure client risk and needs assessments are conducted / completed / documented.

Create, coordinate, implement program plans (formal and informal programming) for individual youth, small groups, and universally for all attendees.

Create, coordinate, implement behaviour plans for behaviourally challenged / diagnosed youth clients.

Create, coordinate, implement safety plans and harm reduction plans for youth in circumstantial/temporary/and pervasive crisis.

Participate in Collaborative Service Team (CST) meetings for youth clients including agency and government case managers, wellness workers, health care / mental health practitioners, housing workers, transitional support workers and other professionals within the community at large.

Coordinate and leads our “Transitioning Youth to Adulthood” Program. Transitioning Youth to Adulthood Program: Due to the extensive and prolonged exposure to adversity and layered trauma, our youth clients are ill equipped to navigate the journey to adulthood. Our youth clients lack emotional learning skills, struggle with Executive Functioning, Self-regulation, and Self-advocacy. This program builds capacity for the above and enables stability and better overall outcomes for youth as they both enter and exit their teen years.

Ensure Incident Reports and Significant Conversation documentation is completed by team members and submitted to management for review.

Engages with parents/guardians as it relates to the children in their care attending Crystal Kids and their support.

Other Duties may include but not limited to:

Oversee the supervision or delegation of building maintenance, equipment maintenance, and minor janitorial duties.
