About the Role

Bookkeeping Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Bookkeeper to join their team. Reporting to the Team Lead, the Bookkeeper will be responsible for reconciliations, entering donations, accounts payable, payroll, and month-end reporting for a variety of clients, primarily church clients.

The ideal candidate is someone who is self-driven, analytical, has an eye for details, and loves to see a job through from start to finish. They will be open to learning and utilizing a variety of technology and accounting software in their day-to-day work. They will also have a desire to learn and grow, alongside a commitment to supporting clients.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day bookkeeping functions, including reconciliation, entering donations, accounts payable, processing payroll, and month-end reporting.
  • Maintain accurate financial records for on average 10-15 clients.
  • Process bank and credit card transactions and prepare financial reports.
  • Enter donations, reconcile to bank, and run year-end donations slips.
  • Manage accounts payable, including creating bill payments using virtual tools.
  • Provide support for the year-end audit.
  • Review and provide clarity to clients on their financial statements, such as balance sheets and P&L statements.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Organize and maintain digital financial records.
  • Work closely with the Team Lead and Team Manager for training, guidance, and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably supporting small businesses and churches.
  • Ability to handle and maintain accurate books for multiple clients.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and other cloud-based accounting and payroll software (e.g., Xero, Wagepoint, Dext, Planning Center, Plooto, Pay Edge).
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through.
  • Comfortable with direct client communications and the ability to explain complex financial terminology in simple terms.
  • Tech-savvy with a strong willingness to learn and integrate new technologies, including AI, ChatGPT, and other relevant applications.
  • A diploma in accounting or a related field is preferred but not required.
