Position Summary:
Are you passionate about working with children and making a positive impact in the lives of immigrant and refugee families? Join our team as a Child Minder! You will plan and implement child-minding activities for children under the age of 12 whose parents are attending workshops or appointments on site.
Responsibilities:
- Set up the childminding room and prepare for the day
- Ensure the appropriate forms are completed during check-in and check-out
- Plan age-appropriate play and activities
- Meet all children's needs
- Clean up after each shift and regularly sanitize toys
- Inspect the child-minding room to ensure it remains a safe environment
- Follow all safety protocols and perform practice drills with the children
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field and/or equivalent experience
- Current First Aid certification
- Fluent in English with excellent interpersonal, cross-cultural, written, and verbal communication skills
- Additional languages and cultural proficiency are a plus
- Knowledge and experience in cross-cultural communication and service methods appropriate for participants with low literacy/English skills
- Familiarity with issues facing newcomer children
