Position Summary:

Are you passionate about working with children and making a positive impact in the lives of immigrant and refugee families? Join our team as a Child Minder! You will plan and implement child-minding activities for children under the age of 12 whose parents are attending workshops or appointments on site.

Responsibilities:

• Set up the childminding room and prepare for the day
• Ensure the appropriate forms are completed during check-in and check-out
• Plan age-appropriate play and activities
• Meet all children's needs
• Clean up after each shift and regularly sanitize toys
• Inspect the child-minding room to ensure it remains a safe environment
• Follow all safety protocols and perform practice drills with the children

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in a relevant field and/or equivalent experience
• Current First Aid certification
• Fluent in English with excellent interpersonal, cross-cultural, written, and verbal communication skills
• Additional languages and cultural proficiency are a plus
• Knowledge and experience in cross-cultural communication and service methods appropriate for participants with low literacy/English skills
• Familiarity with issues facing newcomer children
