Project Overview
You will join the Public Market Technologies team within Trading Technology, acting as a lead business analyst on high-visibility initiatives. This role demands strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a strategic mindset. You will gather and document complex business and technical requirements, translate them into actionable specifications, and partner with engineering and architecture teams to deliver scalable, high-performing solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end business analysis process, from requirement gathering through to solution implementation, across trading and post-trade platforms.
- Facilitate workshops and stakeholder meetings to gather business, functional, and integration requirements.
- Document detailed system and data specifications aligned with business goals and technical capabilities.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and business SMEs to design and evaluate solution alternatives.
- Drive process improvement and innovation by identifying inefficiencies and proposing automation opportunities.
- Support the creation and validation of test plans and test cases alongside the engineering team.
- Translate complex outcomes of process design meetings into process documentation, including risk analysis and business continuity planning.
- Act as a liaison between business and technical teams to ensure shared understanding and alignment.
- Mentor junior business analysts and help drive priorities for critical deliverables.
- Operate effectively in an Agile environment using tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience as a Business Analyst in capital markets or the broader financial services sector.
- Proven ability to capture business and data integration requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Strong understanding of trading systems, investment workflows, and post-trade processes.
- Familiarity with relational databases and ability to work with data models and structures.
- Experience working directly with traders, investment professionals, and engineering teams.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical and non-technical information to diverse audiences.
- Strong analytical and documentation skills with a proactive, detail-oriented mindset.
- Demonstrated success working in Agile/Scrum/Kanban environments.
- Able to work on-site in downtown Toronto Monday through Thursday.
Nice to Have
- Scrum Master or Project Management certification.
- Experience designing or enhancing front-office trading platforms or order management systems (OMS).
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance considerations in trading environments.
