Tim Hortons Research & Development Department

We are seeking a Beverage Analyst to join our R&D team at Tim Hortons. In this role, you will support the development, testing, and implementation of new and existing beverage products—flavored and functional syrup solutions that enhance our beverages and culinary offerings.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science and Technology, Chemistry, or a related field (e.g., Biotechnology, Biochemistry)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the food and beverage manufacturing industry
  • Experience with syrup formulation, ingredient interactions, and flavor systems is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of the innovation process, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and sensory analysis
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Passion for beverage trends, flavor innovation, and ingredient technologies
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently in fast-paced and ambiguous environments
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Business-minded with the ability to balance innovation with operational feasibility
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis focused on beverage syrup trends, flavor profiles, and functional ingredient innovations
  • Define and support project scopes for new simple syrup formulations and custom flavor solutions
  • Collaborate with suppliers to identify, evaluate, and recommend raw materials and ingredients for syrup development
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams—including Quality Assurance, Marketing, and Supply Chain—to bring syrup products from concept to launch
  • Lead or support all stages of syrup product development: bench-top formulation, sensory testing, ingredient sourcing, analytical testing, and documentation
  • Develop and maintain detailed product specifications, lab records, reports, and presentations
  • Present product concepts and findings to internal teams and external partners
  • Write and maintain SOPs for in-house plant trials and initial syrup production runs
  • Participate in plant trials and ensure successful scale-up and commercialization of new syrup formulations
  • Occasional travel (approximately 10%) to corporate offices, suppliers, and manufacturing sites
