About the Role As an Account Executive, you'll serve as a key advisor to a portfolio of clients. You'll lead strategic discussions on benefits plan design, financial management, benchmarking, and cost-containment, ensuring programs align with evolving client needs and public sector realities. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a consultative environment and is passionate about making a long-term impact through thoughtful, client-first solutions.
You'll collaborate closely with internal analysts and consultants, as well as external stakeholders, including senior municipal leadership, union representatives, and insurers. From developing annual financial reports and renewal packages to supporting collective bargaining processes, you'll be at the center of critical decisions that shape the health and sustainability of employee benefits programs across the province.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a strategic advisor to public sector clients on group benefits planning and optimization
- Lead client meetings and in-person consultations, presenting actionable insights and recommendations
- Support plan design, rate development, experience reporting, and funding model analysis (e.g., ASO, insured, hybrid)
- Guide collective bargaining, including plan costing and benchmarking
- Manage complex client relationships and resolve issues in collaboration with insurers and internal teams
- Stay current with legislative and industry changes, and share knowledge internally and externally
- A university degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in group benefits consulting, ideally with public sector exposure
- Strong knowledge of Ontario's municipal benefits environment, including unionized settings and collective agreements
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and facilitation skills
- Financial acumen and experience with rate development, trend analysis, and renewal strategies
- Industry designations such as CEBS, GBA, CMS, FLMI, or similar are considered strong assets
