Overview and Purpose of the Role
Reporting to the Chief of Operations and Nursing Officer, the incumbent in this role will hold overall responsibility for the Diagnostic Imaging Department. This role responsible for managing the department, its technical and support staff, providing leadership and oversight to ensure the safe and effective delivery of services. The role also encompasses responsibilities related to planning and operations, financial management, and quality management, all aimed at maintaining high standards of performance and care within the department.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement short and long-term goals that enhance departmental services, with a focus on optimizing service delivery and improving daily operations
- Design and implement effective systems, processes, and procedures to support the efficient completion of work assignments
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality services that uphold patient privacy and confidentiality, are clinically appropriate, and are provided in a timely and competent manner
- Oversee resource management, ensuring all equipment functions efficiently and reliably
- Manage supply ordering and inventory control, maintaining an up-to-date equipment and service database to monitor availability and schedule necessary service
- Participate in operational and strategic planning activities, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and clinical practice guidelines
- Liaise and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support the clinical and operational needs of the department
- Develop and maintain effective partnerships with key internal and external parties to support optimal service delivery
- Align departmental goals and objectives with organizational priorities, identifying and executing time-sensitive initiatives as required
- Prepare documentation to support planning initiatives that address clinical, financial, and human resource needs
- Contribute to the design and implementation of measurement tools and quality management initiatives to improve service delivery and track performance against key indicators
- Coach staff to embed continuous quality improvement principles into day-to-day operations
- Ensure consistent delivery of quality standards across all work activities
- Implement tools to collect and analyze customer service feedback, using insights to support staff development and service improvements
- Monitor patient waitlists and make appropriate adjustments or recommendations to ensure timely access to services
- Ensure standards for instrument and equipment sterilization are maintained
- Ensure guidelines for waste management through the Environmental Protection Act are maintained
- Coordinate and following up on the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) X-ray inspection visits
- Submit MOHLTC applications for suite design and new equipment
- Work in compliance of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, report hazards, deficiencies and contraventions of the Act, in a timely manner

Skills & Qualifications:
- Certification in area of responsibility by the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
- Completion of a recognized Bachelor's or Master's degree in a Diagnostic Imaging specialty such as Radiological Science, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) required
- Minimum 3–5 years of progressive leadership experience in a Diagnostic Imaging environment required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex information to a range of stakeholders, including senior leadership and external partners
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines
- Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to foster teamwork and collaboration
- Demonstrated decision-making ability in managing moderately complex issues that impact team or departmental outcomes
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a dynamic clinical setting
- High level of discretion and professionalism, with a demonstrated commitment to confidentiality and compliance with data privacy legislation
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to delegate effectively, mentor staff, and promote a positive team culture
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Satisfactory passing of a criminal record check/vulnerable sector check
- Provide proof of Immunization and TB records
