Our client, Waycon Manufacturing Ltd. is an industrial equipment and machinery manufacturer located in Penticton, BC. They specialize in building a wide variety of world-class equipment and machinery for customers across multiple industries in North America. Situated on over 2 acres of land, their facility is equipped with the latest in-house state-of-the-art tooling, equipment and engineering technology to provide a wide variety of manufacturing capabilities including concept design, CNC machining, fabrication, welding, painting, and assembly to testing.

As Waycon enters an exciting phase of expansion, they're seeking a strategic and hands-on Operations Manager to confidently lead manufacturing operations with vision and impact. This pivotal role drives performance across production, logistics, and supply chain functions. Drawing on your technical expertise and leadership skills, you will champion operational excellence, inspire cross-functional teams, and implement systems that boost productivity, quality, and innovation. Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations to ensure timely, high-quality delivery of custom industrial equipment;
  • Lead project kick-off meetings to align teams and ensure successful project execution;
  • Manage WIP to optimize production flow and resource utilization;
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to refine designs for manufacturability, precision, and efficiency;
  • Implement process improvements to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and lower costs;
  • Enforce strict safety, quality, and compliance standards, promoting a safety-first culture;
  • Foster strong client relationships to deliver exceptional service and meet project requirements;
  • Lead and mentor cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and innovation;
  • Manage production schedules and key performance metrics to meet deadlines and improve operational efficiency;
  • Oversee operational reporting, ensuring accurate data for performance analysis and decision-making;
  • Contribute to strategic planning, budgeting, and risk mitigation for manufacturing operations.

Requirements
  • PEng designation in Mechanical Engineering would be considered a strong advantage;
  • Mechanical Engineering Technologist or a related technical field;
  • Minimum 5 years expertise in design for manufacturability, CNC machining, custom metal fabrication, and industrial equipment manufacturing;
  • Strong knowledge of production optimization techniques and process improvement methodologies;
  • Proven leadership experience overseeing technical teams and manufacturing operations;
  • Exceptional communication skills with a client-focused mindset;
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, adapt to shifting priorities, and maintain a strategic, results-oriented focus.
