Job DescriptionWe are looking for a highly skilled Golang Developer with a strong DevOps mindset to join our engineering team on a contractual basis. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of software development and infrastructure automation. You will be building backend services in Go, while also playing a key role in designing and maintaining cloud-native infrastructure using tools like Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform. A deep working knowledge of AWS is essential, and familiarity with GCP is a plus.
This is a 6-month & full-time contract role working in a hyrbid model (3 days a week), reporting to our Ottawa office. This assignment may be extended and/or converted to permanent basis after the initial 6 months based on performance and business needs.
The hourly rate for this position is between CAD $56 and $66 per hour, based in years of experience and internal equity.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop performant, scalable services and tools using Golang
Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform
Develop and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes
Deploy and manage workloads in AWS
Contribute to CI/CD pipeline design, automation, and monitoring
Participate in system design discussions, capacity planning, and infrastructure architecture
Implement best practices for security, observability, and resiliency in cloud environments
Collaborate with developers, SREs, and security teams to ensure reliable, secure delivery
Contribute to internal tools and frameworks that improve developer experience
Troubleshoot production issues across services and infrastructure layers
Must-Have:
4+ years of professional software development experience, with Golang as a primary language
Strong hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments
Proven expertise in infrastructure automation with Terraform
Deep understanding of AWS services including EC2, ECS/EKS, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, S3, RDS, etc.
Experience building REST APIs and backend services in Go
Comfortable with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI)
Proficient with monitoring/logging stacks (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
Strong knowledge of Linux systems, networking, and scripting
Preferred / Bonus Qualifications :
Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services
Experience with service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio, Linkerd)
Exposure to security practices in cloud environments (e.g., IAM policies, Secrets Management)
Contributions to open source Go projects or DevOps tools
Familiarity with AI-powered tools for infrastructure or code optimization
