Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled and self-sufficient Field Crew Leader to join our growing team. This is a hands-on role for an experienced heavy equipment operator who can work independently, manage a helper, and maintain quality and safety standards on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment for open trench excavation and telecom utility installation
- Lead and coordinate daily activities with a small crew (typically one helper)
- Ensure quality workmanship and compliance with safety procedures
- Perform basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
- Document work progress and communicate with supervisors as needed
- Travel occasionally to project sites in the Vancouver Lower Mainland
Ideal Candidate
- Strong operator with experience in trenching and underground utility work
- Reliable and capable of working independently with minimal supervision
- Demonstrates leadership and clear communication skills
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Willing to travel as needed
Qualifications
- 35 years experience operating heavy equipment in a utility or construction setting
- Proven ability to manage small crews and job sites
- Valid Class 1 Drivers License (required)
- Class 3 License (required)
- Familiarity with telecom infrastructure installation is a must
- Concrete experience is an asset
