The Drake Hotel is currently seeking an Audio-Visual Technician to join the team, specifically focusing on Special Events. Reporting to the Director of IT, the AV Technician will play a crucial role in the Technology + Audio-Visual team, collaborating closely with the Special Events and Operations team to support and execute a range of events, including meetings, private functions, and live shows, all while delivering exceptional guest experience. This role requires flexibility to work both daytime events and evening shows as needed.
Responsibilities:- Serve as the primary AV technician for weekday events, handling audio, video, lighting, and related technical needs.
- Act as a Front-of-House Engineer for evening and late-night shows in The Drake's Underground.
- Demonstrate proficiency in mixing music and managing industry-standard mixing consoles, specifically Digico SD12 and Behringer X32.
- Assist with the pickup and delivery of rental equipment as necessary.
- Collaborate with the IT department to maintain and repair AV equipment, ensuring everything is in optimal working condition.
- Maintain a detailed inventory of equipment, a replacement schedule, and maintenance log.
- Perform ad hox responsibilities as required, including special projects or tasks related to AV support for events and operations
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in both music and corporate AV settings.
- Certification from an accredited audio-visual technician school is considered an asset.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, with a create and adaptable approach to solving technical challenges independently.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills, with a collaborative mindset and ability to work well within a team environment
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Organized and capable of managing multiple tasks and activities simultaneously.
- A genuine enthusiasm for technology, art, and culture within the hospitality industry.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including being on-call for weekend evening shifts on a rotating basis.
- A valid driver's license is preferred.
