Job Title: Senior Payroll Specialist Location: Primarily Work From Home (1 day in-office required for payroll processing)
Job Type: Ongoing Contract (no specified end date)
Schedule: 30–40 hours per week during core hours of 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST
Start Date: ASAP
Compensation: $50 – $60 per hour
Position Summary:We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Payroll Specialist with proven experience using Dayforce Ceridian to manage full-cycle payroll and benefits administration for a growing organization. This role supports both head office and showroom staff payroll on a weekly basis and requires a strong command of payroll systems, regulatory compliance, and data accuracy.The ideal candidate has over 5 years of payroll experience in a mid-to-large-sized company, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote-first environment. The position is contract-based with no defined end date, offering stability and flexibility.Key Responsibilities:Payroll Management
  • Manage and process weekly payroll for head office and showroom employees using Dayforce Ceridian.
  • Perform payroll reconciliation, ensure payroll accuracy, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Handle RRSP contributions, Records of Employment (ROEs), and payment requests as needed.
  • Maintain and update the master employee data report.
  • Respond to employee inquiries and payroll-related emails promptly and professionally.
  • Complete all necessary administrative payroll duties and support documentation processes.
Benefits Administration
  • Oversee employee benefits enrolment, updates, and terminations.
  • Conduct benefits reconciliation to ensure alignment between payroll deductions and benefits carrier data.
Off-Cycle Payroll Activities
  • Calculate and process off-cycle payments, including commissions and bonuses.
Compliance & Reporting
  • Prepare and submit WSIB, STD, and LTD paperwork.
  • Generate employment letters related to payroll and benefits.
  • Ensure year-end tax reporting compliance, including T4s, RL slips, and Employer Health Tax (EHT) submissions.
  • Track and reconcile vacation accruals (VA).
Other Duties
  • Support broader HR/Finance initiatives and perform additional payroll-related tasks as assigned.

  2. Hands-on experience with Dayforce Ceridian.
  3. Strong English written and verbal communication skills (8/10 or higher).
