Key Responsibilities
- Equipment Maintenance: Work independently or support mechanical/electrical technicians on installations, preventive maintenance and repairs according to work orders, specifications and established procedures.
- Fabrication & Machining: Perform welding, pipe-fitting and machining tasks to manufacture or modify parts per prints and project scopes.
- Safety First: Follow all health & safety protocols—including lock-out/tag-out, confined-space entry and working-at-heights—and use PPE at all times.
- Shutdown & Emergency Support: Coordinate with external contractors and internal teams to execute repairs or maintenance during planned shutdowns and urgent situations.
- CMMS Management: Adhere to preventive/corrective maintenance schedules; accurately log and close work orders in the CMMS.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to reliability initiatives, health & safety programs and the development of preventive-maintenance strategies.
- Mentorship: Assist in developing the skills of apprentices and share best practices with the maintenance team.
- Experience & Tickets:
- 4+ years in a maintenance role (unlicensed) or certified Welder (456A), Fabricator (437A) or Machinist (429A)
- CWB certification is an asset
- Technical Aptitude:
- Solid fabrication, pipe-fitting and rigging skills
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, manuals and SOPs
- Mechanical knack to assist and learn from journeypersons
- Digital Skills:
- Basic computer literacy for CMMS use
- Industry Know-How (Bonus):
- Foundry or primary-metals experience
- Material-handling systems familiarity
- Mindset:
- Proactive, safety-focused and eager to solve problems
- Lift up to 23 kg (50 lb) regularly
- Operate electric, pneumatic and hydraulic power tools
- Work in varied plant conditions (heat, dust, noise), including confined spaces and at heights
- Rotate through day, afternoon and night shifts (8- or 12-hour) with flexible overtime
