COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Our base salary is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The starting base salary range for this position is listed below. Actual starting salary will be based on a variety of factors including experience, skill set, education, performance, license/certifications, business needs, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

Starting Base Annual Salary Range:

$74,180 - $112,200

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position has primary responsibility for the install and support of SICK products throughout North America.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide amazing customer service by effectively managing customer expectations.
  • Introduce, implement, and support various Lifetime Service programs.
  • Build support structures and populate with SICK equipment. Requires the use of hand tools and basic construction knowledge.
  • Make electrical connections of SICK equipment.
  • Configure SICK products utilizing laptop and configuration software.
  • Provide onsite commissioning of installed equipment following established criteria.
  • Perform onsite start up support, monitor installed equipment for proper operation, and adjust as needed.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and replace SICK equipment as needed.
  • Provide outstanding technical support during normal business hours when working from office or home location.
  • Act as a site lead on larger projects being responsible for the entire project to completion. Duties include but are not limited to determining onsite schedule, assigning appropriate resources to tasks, reporting any onsite issues to SICK management, and providing daily status reports.
  • Configure complex SICK systems utilizing laptop and configuration software. Technician will be able to create equipment configuration files and make changes on their own.
  • Perform Site Surveys for the installation of SICK Equipment. This entails data gathering of the area a unit or system is to be installed, completion on a questionnaire, and preparing customer for pending installation.
  • Advise others in the proper installation of SICK equipment. This might be done onsite or on the phone.
  • Actively assist with improving the processes for the installation of SICK equipment.
  • Provide advanced level support on complex customer issues.
  • Provide Quality Audits of direct reports/contractors. This is done onsite and requires travel. Supervisor will evaluate how well scanner/system is installed, neatness of install, and read rate of install.
  • Provide onsite training to direct reports/contractors. Supervisor will identify strengths and weaknesses of direct reports/contractors and provide training as needed.
  • Coach and develop a team of field service technicians and contractors; hold personnel accountable for high performance towards company cultural expectations, personal performance goals, and activities. Determine future hiring needs and organizational changes as needed.
  • Work with Sr. Director of Service to ensure company objectives are being met by the Field Service team.
  • Assist in the implementation of new products and services into the marketplace.
  • Lead regular staff meetings to discuss group accomplishments, issues and concerns, company/business changes and/or process improvements.
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports to the Sr. Director of Service.
  • Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of the Field Service group.
  • Review and approve timecards and travel expenses.
  • Attend required training sessions as assigned.
  • Carry out other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Two-year college degree or equivalent work experience required; Four-year college degree is preferred.
  • 5+ years of prior field service experience within the logistics automation, factory automation, or similar industry required.

Other Qualifications

  • Expert customer relation skills.
  • Skilled in planning, organizing, prioritizing, and negotiating.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Able to effectively lead and manage 5+ people.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Internet applications.
  • Able and willing to work alternative schedules including weekend, and on-call hours as needed.
  • Legally permitted to work in Canada.
  • Able to work in a general office environment.
  • This is a travel position and will require domestic and international travel upwards of 50% of time.
