Job Overview: BEST is looking for a self-motivated individual to help us develop and implement an environment friendly program, ensure personnel are properly training for environmental hazards, and over see environmental health and safety audits.
Job Location: Kitchener, ON
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inspect and sort all types of waste streams using proper PPE to create diversity reports
- Conduct annual waste audits, sample collection, perform or coordinate physical waste sort, gather waste management data for other sustainability reports.
- Monitor field work to ensure compliance with company standards, procedures specifications and codes and advise and educate staff on environmental issues and programs
- Oversee Support the Environmental Sustainability Coordinator in engaging faculty, staff and students in waste management initiatives
- Travel to each campus to ensure environmental requirements are met
- Oversee annual waste audit and work with environmental organizations
- Support the ongoing operations of existing waste management programs and work closely by attending meetings with the Sustainability Committee on campus
- Support updating policies and procedures to achieve waste diversion goals
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Diploma or Degree in Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Able to work in a diverse environment
- Must have a valid Drivers Licence
