DESCRIPTION OF PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the work of assigned trades to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality execution.
- Enforce adherence to safety regulations, work permits, and site-specific procedures through regular inspections and safety leadership.
- Manage manpower, materials, and equipment to align with project schedules and productivity targets.
- Read and apply blueprints, drawings, and specifications to guide field operations and ensure accurate execution.
- Inspect work to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and job hazard assessments to promote a strong safety culture.
- Act as a liaison between project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and trades to resolve field issues and maintain workflow.
- Monitor daily progress, identify delays or resource gaps, and provide timely updates to leadership.
- Support the training and development of apprentices fostering skill growth.
- Maintain a zero-incident safety record through proactive site supervision and enforce safety protocols.
PERFORMANCE & TECHNICAL OBJECTIVES
- Ensure the project is completed on time, within budget and to specification.
- Maintain daily and weekly schedules, adjusting resources as required to meet deadlines.
- Conduct daily safety inspections and weekly toolbox talks.
- Ensure 100% compliance with local, provincial, and federal safety regulations.
- Supervise and coordinate all trades, subcontractors, and site personnel.
- Resolve on-site conflicts promptly and professionally.
- Maintain clear communication with project managers, clients, and stakeholders.
- Optimize use of labor, materials, and equipment to reduce waste and downtime.
KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATION
- Journey level Red Seal certification from a recognized provincial training authority considered an asset.
- Proven 7+ years of experience supervising, leading and managing trades personnel in a maintenance, turnaround and construction environment.
- Leadership for Safety Excellence Certificate.
- General Site Training Certificates (ie: Fall Protection, CSTS, WHMIS, H2S, First Aid-CPR, etc.)
