POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Foreman is responsible for the direction and coordination of Foremen, field labour, subcontractors and the placement/use of equipment and construction material. The Senior Foreman is accountable for the efficient and effective construction of the project following the overall construction schedule. This role will be under United Brotherhood of Carpenters, Local 27.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following however, other duties may be assigned. To perform in this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Safe, effective and efficient operation of the project.
- General knowledge of all elements of their trade work.
- Proficient at establishing 1-3 week look ahead work schedules.
- Basic layout and surveying skills a plus.
- Scheduling of labour, materials and equipment.
- Experience with the purchase of project construction materials.
- Ability to interface with owners building facilities personnel, fire and building code officials.
- Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications and submittals.
- Ability to interface and coordinate with Subcontractors.
- Ability to assist PM on estimating change orders.
- Ability to coordinate & manage work activities for subcontractors and self-perform work.
- Payroll time sheet experience.
- Understand productivity targets and allocate crews appropriately.
- Prepare and lead prestart briefings with crews.
- Be a safety and quality champion and lead by example.
Management Responsibilities
Direct and coordinate with all trades and subcontractors.
Leads by example & mentors others.

- Meets schedules and deadlines, adheres to policies and procedures and maintains a good attendance/tardiness record.
- Ensures client satisfaction, both internally and externally, through positive, pleasant, professional, timely and efficient handling of issues.
- Exercises good interpersonal skills by willingly helping others accomplish the work of the organization, even if it is outside the scope of regular duties.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Education, Experience and Skills
Completion of high school, trade school, college or vocational training plus seven years of experience in the construction trades as a foreman and general foreman; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficient with Outlook and Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
Technical and Mental Skills
- Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Speaks effectively after groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and offer leadership to the company's staff and Sub trades.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications and trade contractor's scope.
- High-level technical understanding, as it relates to construction industry.
