Position Purpose & Overview

St. Johns School (SJS) is seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Girls Volleyball Coach. They will be responsible for the safe and effective training of students at practices and games. The Volleyball Coach will plan and conduct practices for participating students. They will also attend/coach games 1 or 2 days per week and/or weekend tournaments, and ensure the overall wellbeing of all student athletes.

Key Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities and duties are inclusive of, but not limited to:

  • Plan and deliver training sessions (2 morning or afternoons - Monday/Wednesday 3:30pm-5:30pm) to participating students.
  • Act as the primary supervisor for students during practices and games/tournaments.
  • Provide mentorship, training, and support to students.
  • Confirm practice, league, and tournament season schedules.
  • Maintain open communication with the Athletic Director, Students, and Parents of students.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records of students at practices and games/tournaments.
  • Provide basic medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
  • Be able to execute emergency plans for athletic facilities.
  • Attend Athletic Department Coaches Training.

Required Qualifications and Key Skills

Education & Work Experience

  • 1-3 years of Volleyball coaching experience.
  • Knowledgeable in the technical elements of Volleyball.
  • Need to be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • A Basic First Aid certificate.

This role will require working hours outside of school office hours: occasionally going offsite to sporting events; and occasional morning and weekend commitments.

On rare occasions where there are urgent needs at the School, an employee may be assigned to temporarily backfill role(s) critical to the schools operations and business continuity.

Conditions of Employment

  • The successful candidate will be required to complete child abuse prevention training, concussion training, Level 1 first-aid training provided by St. Johns School and provide consent for a criminal background check for the vulnerable sector.
  • Clearance on criminal record checks for vulnerable sector is a condition of employment
  • The ability to legally work in Canada, in an educational setting is a condition of employment.

Job Information

  • Part-time contract position from September 1, 2025 to November 30, 2025.
  • Work location: on-site, travel to other sporting facilities.
  • Contract term salary of $2,500.00 to $3,500.00, depending on level of commitment and experience.
