We are seeking a Construction Superintendent to join our team! You will oversee project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation.
Position Overview:
The Construction Superintendent will be the on-site leader, responsible for the overall supervision of all field operations. This role is critical to ensuring that projects are constructed in a safe, efficient, and high-quality manner, in accordance with design, budget, and schedule requirements. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with a proven track record of managing complex commercial construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Execution: Oversee all on-site construction activities, ensuring the project is built according to plans, specifications, and building codes.
- Scheduling and Coordination: Develop, maintain, and drive the project schedule, coordinating with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure timely completion of all milestones.
- Quality Control: Implement and enforce a rigorous quality control program to ensure the highest standards of workmanship are met.
- Safety Management: Champion a culture of safety on-site, ensuring all OH&S regulations are strictly followed. Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and motivate all on-site personnel, including subcontractors and direct hires.
- Budget Management: Monitor project costs and assist the Project Manager in controlling expenditures and managing the project budget.
- Communication and Reporting: Serve as the primary on-site contact, maintaining open and effective communication with the Project Manager, clients, architects, and engineers. Prepare and submit daily reports and other required documentation.
- Problem Resolution: Proactively identify and resolve on-site issues and conflicts to minimize delays and cost impacts.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial construction is required.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and other construction documents.
- Strong understanding of all construction divisions and trades.
- Experience with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Plangrid) is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project).
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead and manage a diverse team of professionals and tradespeople.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Certifications: Journeyman trade certification and relevant safety certifications (e.g., NCSO, CSTS) are considered assets.
