Summary

We are seeking a skilled Construction Estimator to join our dedicated team at ROMAG Contracting Ltd. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate project cost assessments and contributing to the successful execution of our construction projects in the water and wastewater sector.

  • Reviewed the scope of work document to understood project requirements.
  • Assessed building plan and specs.
  • Prepared estimate of probable cost of materials, labor and equipment for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawing, and specification.
  • Visited construction sites to learn more about the projects.
  • Maintained a directory of suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Distributed tender packages to sub trades and suppliers through Software.
  • Obtained quotes from multiple suppliers and contractors to find the most suitable one.
  • Collaborated with project managers, contractors, engineers, and suppliers to prepare accurate estimates.
  • Outlined the required work to estimate labor cost.
  • Researched, scoured, negotiated, and obtained the best prices and quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Conducted risk assessment and accounted for cost deviations.
  • Completing a detailed review of drawings and specifications.

  • Participate in developing a cost-effective plan and schedule for completion of the project and following a logical pattern for utilization of resources.
  • Coordinating the work of subcontractors working on various phases of the project.
  • Reporting any challenges or issues to the Site Superintendent in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining accurate as build drawings for underground utilities and plan changes as they occur.
  • Responsibility for proper administration of construction contracts and for ensuring all necessary permits and licenses are in place.
  • Receiving, tracking and inspection of field purchases and materials, keeping daily records of labour, equipment, concrete, aggregates, rentals, subcontracts.
  • Support cost control, proper coding and managing project within budget
  • Qualifications:
  • Five or more years' experience as construction Estimator in complex projects in the water and wastewater projects / Heavy Civil projects
  • College Diploma / Engineering Degree
  • Ability to work under pressure and achieve maximum efficiency
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to effectively solve problem and take decisive action within the limits of authority.
  • Ability to take a proactive outlook as it relates to Health and Safety.
  • Proficient MS Office and Windows-based computer applications skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Excellent listening skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Attention to details
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to work independently and to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and innovation and can go beyond immediate assignments and act on opportunities.
  • Ability to address and resolve conflicts and disagreements

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $70,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
