- Create and maintain a culture of Safety First.
- Serving as the first point of contact for construction jobsites general Health and Safety inquiries, concerns, and questions, responding in a professional and timely manner.
- Coach, guide and assist client subcontractors in understanding their responsibilities related to the management of safety, health compliance, and culture, following our client's prequalification process and Contractor Safety Management Program.
- Work with Project and Field Management Teams to ensure implementation and ongoing improvement of health and safety processes and systems within the project areas, following our client's road map.
- Monitor and manage sub-contractor safety documentation and ensure that subcontractors submit the documents on job sites as required.
- Inspect all aspects of safety as it relates to the installation process on site for existing and potential hazards and recommend corrective actions and preventative measures.
- Being proactive in identifying safety issues and help to address these issues to best serve the needs of customers.
- Assist in the development of preventative procedures/methods to reduce/eliminate the potential for accidents/incidents.
- Liaise with jobsite safety management team regarding site safety concerns of our client sub-contractors and coordinate with both parties.
- Participate in monthly mandatory site safety culture management meetings as well as site safety meetings, as required.
- Decision-making ability to escalate complex issues to the appropriate level.
- Review site safety documentation and maintain both electronic and hard copies of documentation.
- Maintain project site safety KPI.
- All other duties as assigned by the management.
- 7-10 years of previous Health & Safety experience in a construction environment.
- Technical knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and O.Reg.213/91 Construction Projects, MOL processes and COR certification.
- Diploma/degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field.
- Safety certifications [e.g., NCSO, CRSP] are a strong asset.
- Skilled in site audits, accident investigation, hazard identification.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Adobe, and safety management software.
- Valid Ontario driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle daily.
- Confidence to walk active job sites and lead with influence.
- Worker Awareness, WHMIS, Working at Heights certification.
- High level of discretion when dealing with confidential information.
- Standard First Aid/CPR/AED certification an asset.
- Approachable and able to work well under minimal supervision with self-starter tendencies and excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to coordinate and communicate with various levels of internal and external parties.
- Able to work mostly outdoors on construction sites, in various cities, during all seasons and weather conditions.
- Physical requirements include but are not limited to walking up and down stairs, climbing ladders and navigating uneven terrain.
