On behalf of our client, we are seeking a Senior ICA Engineer with over 12 years of

experience in Instrumentation, Controls, and Automation, preferably within a heavy

industrial environment. This role, within the Global Technical Services team, is

essential to ensuring efficient plant operations and successful project delivery.

The incumbent will provide expert technical support, oversee system adjustments,

and lead projects to completion on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with

technical and safety standards. This job is a hybrid role.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Engineering & Installation

•Coordinate medium voltage cable routing, oversee installation and energization of electrical systems (e-house,

transformer, MCCs), manage integration of critical components (fiber optics, UPS, Fire & Gas panels), and

develop maintenance routines in collaboration with site operations.

Instrumentation & Procurement

•Review and confirm instrumentation selections, support electrical spare parts procurement, and assist with

technical RFIs as needed.

Control Systems Integration

•Lead development and integration of plant control systems (Allen Bradley, Siemens), manage PLC hardware

delivery, FAT testing, simulator development, and site installation.

Commissioning & Operational Support

•Support commissioning, coordinate control software updates, train plant operators, and assist with ongoing

operations and stakeholder simulator demonstrations.

Qualifications & Experience

•Instrumentation and Controls Engineer or Senior Instrumentation Technologist (ASET certified), with 12+ years

in I&C systems, PLC programming, troubleshooting, commissioning, and registered as P.Eng or P.Tech in Alberta.

Electrical engineering background is a plus.

Technical Skills

•Expertise in programming HMI, DCS, and PLC systems (especially Allen-Bradley), with familiarity in rotating

equipment, material conveying, hydraulic, and lubrication systems.

Collaboration & Operations

•Strong track record working with EPCM contractors, suppliers, unions, regulatory bodies, and owners, plus hands-

on experience in plant start-ups and operations.

Technical Assets

•Experience with element/loop/function checking, HAZAN/HAZOP participation, detailed design/EPC project phases,

motor controls (up to 1000hp), VFDs, and plant network/control system strategies.

System Integration & Testing

•Skilled in control compatibility for vendor packages, plant control architecture, Factory and Site Acceptance

Testing, and development of internal and international standards.

Leadership & Flexibility

•Strong project management and leadership skills with ability to prioritize, delegate, and drive projects to

completion; requires approximately 25% travel flexibility.
