Job Overview:

The Senior Project Coordinator is responsible for managing Prefabrication Shop activities and assigned Commercial & Institutional mechanical contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective fabrication strategies, workflows, and QA/QC procedures to optimize production, maximize efficiency, and minimize defects using practices like Lean Construction.
  • Collaborate with the General and Construction Managers to establish cost control codes, budgets, and efficient fabrication schedules aligned with evolving project timelines.
  • Work closely with the BIM and Project Management Teams to ensure fabrication efforts support material efficiency and meet project schedule requirements.
  • Hire, train, supervise and oversee fabrication shop personnel, welders, apprentices and other subtrades, fostering a positive, safe, and productive work environment.
  • Manage material inventory, ordering, receiving, and quality verification, as well as tool and equipment planning, maintenance, and tracking to support seamless operations.
  • Organize and maintain a secure tool crib and oversee the implementation and daily use of tool tracking and maintenance software.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained and repaired to support efficient prefabrication operations.
  • Manage ordering and receiving of materials and tools to ensure timely availability for prefabrication needs.
  • Oversee welding operations, management of welding materials, and coordination of X-ray and visual inspections to ensure quality and compliance.

Required Competencies and Qualifications

  • A minimum of 4 years mechanical experience in the construction industry preferred.
  • Successful completion ofpost-secondary Mechanical Engineering program or equivalent preferred.
  • Proficient English oral and written communication skills. Able to follow verbal and written instructions and complete required paper work accurately.
  • Possess the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Well organized with the ability to prioritize workload to meet deliverables and customer expectations
  • Well-developed problem solving skills with the ability to find solutions and incorporate them into existing practices as needed.
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification is preferred.
  • Experience with Stratus is preferred.
  • Experience with Procore is preferred.
  • Possess Class 5 Drivers License.
