What are the Responsibilities?
- Troubleshoot/diagnose, repair, and replace broken or malfunctioning components of equipment and trucks/vehicles
- Repair and maintain operating condition of industrial production and processing machinery and equipment.
- Reassembly and testing of equipment post maintenance.
- Operate newly repaired machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
- Repair and replace damaged or worn parts.
- Record repairs and maintenance performed, suggest future maintenance or parts/equipment upgrades to help ensure ongoing reliability and continuous improvement
- Adhere to all Environmental and Health & Safety (H&S) regulations, participate in/contribute to safety culture, provide a safe environment for all employees, customers, and visitors
- Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications.
- Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
- Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine computerized diagnostic equipment and other tools.
- Participate and/or lead special projects as required.
- Provide assistance throughout the yard as needed.
What are the Requirements?
- MUST be a Red Seal Heavy Equipment Mechanic, no exceptions
- 3-5 years of relevant equipment maintenance experience
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities
- Knowledge of and experience maintaining hydraulic systems - no need to be an expert, but skills should be at least 5/10
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, diagrams, manuals, etc.
- Strong communication skills, must be able to document work effectively and make smart recommendations regarding machine maintenance, upgrades, parts purchases, etc.
- Ability to work equally well independently and as part of a team
- Must be eligible for work in Canada
