Job Summary
Responsible for operating Bobcat and Zoom Boom machinery to perform a variety of tasks, including potential excavation and material handling. Your role will be crucial in ensuring the successful completion of the project. Please note, you will be asked to perform other duties aside from operating equipment.
- Project is located in Gretna, Manitoba.
- The schedule is 6 days on, 1 day off, 10-hour days.
- LOA and Travel pay will be provided.
- You are responsible for getting to the project site and home on your own.
- Must be available to start immediately.
- Must be able to successfully pass a D&A screen and practical evaluation on machinery (condition of employment) prior to being hired. Must possess valid safety tickets to operate bobcat and zoom boom.
Essential Functions

- Operate Bobcat machinery to perform excavation, grading, and material handling tasks.
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of the equipment.
- Follow safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment.
- Read and interpret project plans and blueprints.
- Troubleshoot and resolve minor equipment issues.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and equipment usage.
- Assist with other construction tasks as needed.
- Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
- Cleans up material and debris after completing each job.
- Perform all other job-related duties as requested by supervision.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience
- 3-5+ years' experience operating large equipment and machinery on a project site.
- Experience working in the aboveground storage tank industry an asset.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required in this role.
- Ability to communicate and relay information with Foreman and co-workers effectively, safely, and respectfully.
- Must have a positive outlook; willing to work as a team and independently.
- Must possess hard work ethic and willingness to learn new things.
Physical Requirements
- Project site environment - may be frequently exposed to cold, wet, humid, and hot weather conditions. Heavy winds, strong smells, and vibration are also factors on project sites.
- While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee is occasionally required to sit.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination and ability to maintain balance.
- Must be able to climb ladders.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, and stooping.
- Use of hand tools such as hammers, knives or wrenches.
- Visual ability to include color vision and depth perception.
- Work may include pushing, pulling, lifting or carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds, such as raw or fabricated material, equipment or tools.
- Must perform all duties while wearing protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety-toed boots, hard hat, and gloves.
