Job Purpose:

FCSS will be working with other departments again this year to deliver large quantities of high quality, outdoor programing. The program manager will oversee day-to-day activities and be responsible for planning, leading and scheduling programming 5-7 days a week. This person will also play an important role in program design, working with other CLFN departments and external organizations to get the best possible program for CLFN youth.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create weekly programming plans. Assign staff schedules.
  • Track participating and success metrics.
  • Work with staff, community members and outside groups to deliver high quality programming
  • Manage procurement of equipment and supplies
  • Manage budgets
  • Manage fleet vehicles and ensure they are in good operating condition
  • Manage supplies and equipment to ensure they are used, returned and cared for.
  • Create annual report
  • Work with other CLFN departments to create youth programs that serve their needs
  • Lead programming when required
  • Ensure the safety of youth participating in the program

Requirements

  • Own transportation to the English Bay Community Center and drivers licence required.
  • Applicants must have strong qualifications in one of the following areas:
    • Administration finance, accounting, HR, project management
    • Youth mental health, social work, teaching, psychology, programming experience.
  • Previous experience with CLFN HR and finance processes is a strong asset.
  • Previous experience with CLFN land-based youth programs (or similar) is a requirement.
  • Minimum 2 years experience working with youth. Strong preference for a candidate with a demonstrated ability to work with CLFN youth and existing connections to the community.
  • Experience supervising staff and designing programming is required.
  • Class 4 drivers licence and VSRC
  • Critical thinking skills. Problem solving and adaptation to new circumstances. Flexibility under pressure.
  • Knowledge of CLFN culture and community structure.
  • Ability to engage with the public (both CLFN and non-members)
  • Interest in developing youth

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:

  • Hours of work may include holidays, evenings, and weekends. Hours of work will change from shoulder season (Early may to may long weekend) to the main season (May 24- September 1).
  • Work is performed in an outdoor and office environment.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Reading, writing and email communication skills required.
