Electronic Products Recycling Association (EPRA) is a recognized, industry-led, not-for-profit organization that operates regulated recycling programs across Canada.We provide environmental compliance programs for manufacturers, distributors and retailers of electronics and represent the largest network of qualified processors and drop-off locations in Canada.Our mandate is to ensure end-of-life electronics are handled in a safe, secure and environmentally-sound manner.
We currently have an opening for an intermediate Accounts Payable Accountant based out of our Mississauga head office located at 5750 Explorer Drive.
This is a full-time, permanent position that reports to the Supervisor of Accounts Payable. For the right candidate, there may be future opportunities to rotate through other roles to grow and develop their accounting skill set.
Role Overview:
The Accounts Payable Accountant is a key member of our Accounting and Finance Team, and is responsible for handling daily, weekly, monthly, and annual entries in the accounting system and accounts payable sub-ledger. This accountant role will ensure tasks are completely timely, accurately, effectively, efficiently in a compliant manner with professionalism; and contribute to the overall success of the accounting department.
Key Responsibilities:
Process invoices for multiple categories (suppliers, employees, service providers, etc.) within payment cycles and month-end deadlines
Accurately enter and allocate the invoice to the appropriate entity, cost centres, general ledger accounts, and tax authority and codes
Prepare and generate accounts payable reports including Open Payables report
Work on weekly and monthly bank reconciliations such generating the bank portal transaction reports which are reconciled to SAP Bank Statement, process SAP adjustments, and post the Statement to ensure accurate financial reporting
Proactively resolve invoicing discrepancies with cross functional departments
Monitor, audit, reconcile and process corporate credit card transactions in accordance with company policy and substantive approved back-up receipts
Audit employee expense reports and receipts in accordance with company policy and guidelines, and process report for employee reimbursement
Effectively manage communication flow through the shared Accounts Payable Team email account and action emails and requests on a timely basis
Analyze and present data to internal stakeholders using Excel and other system relevant reporting tools, and flag any potential issues or discrepancies detected
Maintain detailed and organized records as per regulatory requirements and internal standards, processes and procedures and company policies
Administrative accounting responsibilities and ad hoc tasks and assignments
Ideal Candidate:
Has university degree or college diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field
5 years of relevant work experience in accounts payable
Knowledge of financial reporting processes and requirements
Is proficient with MS Office with strong Excel skills
Familiarity with SAP Business ByDesign (SAP BYD) is an asset
Highly organized with a great attention to detail
Able to prioritize and multi-task in a dynamic busy team setting
Excellent teamwork ability and comfort is required in this role
Solid critical thinking, analytical aptitude, and problem-solving ability
Effective professional verbal and written English Communication is essential
Possesses a love of numbers, processes, and systems
Self-motivated, proactive and disciplined to work without direct supervision
Fluency in spoken and written French would be an asset for the role
