Position Summary

Faculty in School of Community Studies are responsible for providing instruction to learners; evaluating learner progress, designing and developing curriculum and instructional materials, and supporting learners in meeting the learning outcomes of their courses and programs.

Candidates must be committed to effective teaching and demonstrate the ability to teach courses within the field of Education Assistant instruction. As an Instructor, Education Assistant, you will have the opportunity to impact learners lives by inspiring a passion for justice and social issues, fostering critical thinking skills, empowering students through education, and providing support and guidance to learners interested in pursuing careers in various academic settings..

Position responsibilities and accountabilities include but are not limited to:

  • Providing quality instruction and a positive Learner Experience.
  • Evaluating learner performance on an ongoing basis, providing learners and administrators with progress reports.
  • Identifying areas of concern and as required, ensuring any special student accommodations are met.
  • Participating in College and departmental events that promote learner success, such as New Student Orientation and Convocation.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, championing the department and the College.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree of Education required
  • Demonstrated ability to teach courses in a variety of formats, such as in-person, on-line, and in blended delivery settings.
  • Minimum 2years of direct related experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Recent experience teaching at a post-secondary level would be considered an asset, including curriculum development and instruction
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles and the role of Education Assistant would be considered an asset.
  • Must be able to work on-campus for face-to-face instruction

Conditions of Employment

  • A Police Information Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check, will be required prior to commencement of employment.


This opening is a continuous Faculty position for the downtown location of Bow Valley College. Please note all successful candidates will be required to provide copies of government issued identification and proof of educational qualifications upon hire and may be required to provide an enhanced police information check.
