Job Summary:
Coast Mental Health is looking to add an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to our properties team. This position provides meaningful work that makes a difference daily to the people we serve. Under the direction of the Properties Manager or designate, this position is responsible for performing a variety of building interior and exterior maintenance including cleaning as assigned Coast properties in accordance with the mission, objectives and principles of the Coast Foundation Society and the properties division.
Typical Duties:
- Coordinate the daily work assignments to the staff including: scheduling within established guidelines.
- Performs miscellaneous functions such as scheduling, timesheets, purchase orders, petty cash and confirmation of deliveries; review and manage daily logs, provide notice to tenants and programming staff; coordinate with Properties admin to assign maintenance requests and ensure timely completion of same.
- Perform building inspections and provide input to Managers in preparing annual plans for: Maintenance and cleaning routines (internal and external), servicing of equipment and vehicles, emergency preparedness, landscaping and grounds maintenance and fire drills. Senior Building Operator will be required to go on-call rotation during after-hours and weekends.
- Responsible for checking and restocking housekeeping supplies and adherence to WHMIS guidelines.
- Assisting the Properties Manager in coordinating the miscellaneous work of outside contractors.
- Preparation and organizing repairs and cleaning of vacant suite to accommodate new tenant.
- Facilitating access to Coast properties and assist all trades and services when necessary plus Statutory Officials such as contractors, Fire Inspectors, Police and Boiler Inspectors, assist other trades personnel when required with their duties.
- Direct staff, volunteers and students with daily work assignments based on operational needs, perform the duties of the building operator as assigned.
- This position will be required to go on-call rotation during evenings and weekends to respond to building emergency.
Job Qualifications * Required Qualifications
- Grade 12 education or equivalent, a Certificate in Building Service/Cleaning from a recognized college or equivalent combination of education, training and minimum 3 years of related experience is preferred.
- A valid B.C Class 5 Driver's license and possess a vehicle for work related duties
- A Ministry of Justice Criminal Record clearance required if hired Knowledge and abilities
- Possess good organizational skills and must be able to prioritize and coordinate repairs and maintenance
- Excellent written and verbal communication and an ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
- Ability to operate related equipment and able to lift 20 Lbs. as needed.
- A WHMIS and First Aid Certificate is preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in maintaining building interior and exterior repairs and maintenance including cleaning
- Knowledge and experience in the operation and repair of mechanical, electrical and building components and landscaping
- Knowledge and experience with cleaning equipment and supply and their appropriate applications
- Experience with MS Word, Excel, Maintenance Connection is an asset
